We were especially proud on September 19, 2010, when a reform allowing parents to keep their young-adult children on the family’s health insurance, first proposed and pushed to adoption by United Power in Illinois, was made a national law. Almost half a million families in Illinois and millions nationally can now keep their children on their health insurance until age 26.
We are currently working make sure Illinois retains and builds on its health care achievements. In particular, we are focusing on creating a strong, consumer-friendly health benefits exchange – a means for small business and individuals to access quality, affordable health insurance. We will also press for strong charity care policies to make sure our hospitals do their part to provide assistance to those who need it.
